"Close it" is one of those words that
have unexpected results. I meant to teach Marley to push doors
and drawers closed with this phrase. When a door is half way between
open and closed, "close it" means "return the door
to its normal position." The exterior doors on our
home
are normally kept closed, so Marley closes those doors. But the
interior doors (ie: the bedroom door), Marley pushes back against
the wall to their normally open position.
To close a normally open door, Marley needs to be cued with "push on it," sometimes adding, "No. Other side."
"Close it" also works for closing drawers.
